Ahhhhhh---The Wetzler Jungle is Ready!

“Teaching is the only major occupation of man for which we have not yet developed tools that make an average person capable of competence and performance. In teaching we rely on the "naturals," the ones who somehow know how to teach.”
~Peter Drucker

Well, the Queen of the Wetzler Jungle is ready to swing into the first day of school! I am relieved that I have everything finished early. Usually I am scrambling the day before to get things finalized. I even have my Parent Orientation Packets ready to go for Wednesday evening—yes call me an over achiever. I call it more like—I am SUPER DUPER excited for school to begin.

My classroom environment is important to me. Kids want to see vibrant colors and a fun welcoming atmosphere.  I want kids to come in my room and never want to leave. This year I decided to have a theme for the year and it is “Get Wild About Reading.” Sometimes, kids tend to get a little aggravated with reading and may become discouraged. However, that is not allowed in my classroom. They are not allowed to say I can’t instead they say I will try my best. (No Negative Nancy’s!) I thought a reading hut would be beneficial in the classroom. Because I am a crazy teacher, I even made up a chant that kind of goes to the song George of the Jungle:

Read Read Read in my jungle
Watch and see
Ah, reading’s fun for me!

Read Read Read in my jungle
Reading is the key
Ah, reading‘s fun for me!

If I can’t read a word,
I won’t pout,
Because my teacher taught me
How to sound it out!

Read Read Read in my jungle
Miss Wetzler’s proud of me,
I know reading is the key
Ah, books, books for me!

It sounds even better when I sing it—ha! My kids will be learning this and singing it. I am sure they are just going to be dazzled!

***My pictures will not load for some reason, I shall try later.
